Utah bar owners love Wisconsin fans after big football weekend

Beer-loving Wisconsin fans helped two bars in Provo, Utah, enjoy their best financial weekend ever. Badgers fans took over the city last weekend as they traveled to watch 10th-ranked Wisconsin pummel BYU, 40-6.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, ABG's Libation Emporium owner Gary Whiting opened his bar two hours early — at 10 a.m. ahead of the 1:30 p.m. game — and from there it was a "constant influx" of out-of-town customers that led to the best crowd he's seen in 27 years.

“Financially, it's the biggest day I’ve ever had here,” he told the newspaper. "It was a wonderful thing. The people from Wisconsin are fabulous. They're the nicest, funnest people we've ever had here."

Another bar, City Limits Tavern, also opened at 10 a.m. to much of the same success.

“They (Wisconsin fans) were joking about trying to drink Provo dry," City Limits bartender Liz Burley told the Salt Lake Tribune.
