Three Rafters, one Woodchuck named to Northwoods League Home Run Derby

WAUSAU - The accolades continue to pile up for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. 

Christian Jones, Dustin Woodcock and Jake Guenther will all participate in the Northwoods League Home Run Derby that will take place before the All-Star Game on July 18 at Athletic Park.

Stevie Mangrum will represent the Wisconsin Woodchucks at the derby, belting 11 home runs to this point of the season. Mangrum will also play in the All-Star Game. 

Christian Jones

Jones leads the South Division team with 12 home runs. Jones homered in the Rafters 6-4 win over the Battle Creek Bombers on Tuesday.

Woodcock has belted six homers so far this season while Guenther has hit five. Both Woodcock and Guenther will also play in the All-Star Game.

Nine players from each Northwoods League division were chosen for the derby. There will be nine innings, with each player having a half inning to hit as many home runs as they can before reaching six outs. 

The player with the most home runs after the nine innings will be crowned as the individual derby champion. The division with the most combined home runs will be the winners of the team competition.
