Three local players on All-State soccer team

Jack Mittelsteadt was the Wisconsin Valley Conference player of the year in boys soccer for the second straight season.

He can add first team All-State to his postseason accolades.

The D.C. Everest senior was recently named to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association first team as voted on by state coaches. Two other local players earned best of the rest recognition, Wisconsin Rapids senior Jonah Bakunowitz a forward, and Columbus Catholic senior midfielder Tyler Fuerlinger.

Mittelsteadt, a forward, scored 55 goals and had seven assists for 117 points this season. He helped the Evergreens win their second straight WVC title with a 10-0-2 league record. Everest went 21-2-2 overall and reached the WIAA Division 1 sectional championship, falling to Green Bay Preble 5-0.

Fuerlinger scored 14 goals and had 19 assists for a 47-point season. The Dons won the Mid-State Conference title with a perfect 12-0 record and finished the season 20-3. Columbus Catholic lost to Arcadia 7-5 in the Division 4 sectional semifinals.

Bakunowitz was a first-team selection on the All-WVC team and the Raiders went 8-8-3 overall and 4-4-3 in the conference. Rapids to Bay Port 4-1 in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.
