The man was in a home in the 1300 block of Wisconsin Street with numerous other people Saturday evening, and he had a .22-caliber handgun, according to police. At one point in the evening, Samantha J. Krebs grabbed the man's gun, placed it on his leg and pulled the trigger, according to a police report. The bullet entered the man's upper leg.

Witnesses told police that Krebs didn't appear to know the gun was loaded, according to court documents. Krebs asked people at the Wisconsin Rapids home to help put the 23-year-old victim into her vehicle so she could drive him to a hospital, according to reports. The man refused to go to the hospital because doctors there would have to report a gunshot wound to police, according to reports.

Police received a tip about the shooting and drug activity at homes in the 1300 and 600 blocks of Wisconsin Street at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the report.  A half hour later, officers found the gunshot victim in the 600 block of Wisconsin Street. An ambulance took the man to the Aspirus Riverview Hospital emergency room.
