Children wait in line to go down a slide that is a part of the South Wood County Humane Society’s snow sculpture in 2009. This year’s event will be Saturday, Jan. 24.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — On Saturday, Jan. 24, the South Wood County Humane Society will host its 10th annual Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular at the Centralia Center, 220 Third St. S., in Wisconsin Rapids from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is a day filled with family fun for all ages.

Snow sculptures come to life from a 6-foot-square block of snow, created by individuals within our own community.

Spend time socializing inside the Centralia Center and enjoy delicious soup or chili donated by local restaurants while you listen to music from Two Left Feet, Harps & Heels and Tilly's Village. Visit the adoption center and meet some pets who are looking for forever homes.

There are also many unique raffle baskets filled with something for everyone. New this year will be a special raffle of a rocker recliner valued at $450. Tickets for the recliner only can be purchased in advance at the Humane Society for $5 each or five for $20 or on the day of the event. Raffle winners will be announced staring at 4:30 p.m. with the sculpting award winners to be announced shortly afterward.

This year's main snow sculpture is being created by the very talented Dickman Family. Team Dickman has participated annually in Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular, and the Humane Society is proud to showcase their work through an interactive sculpture for kids and kids at heart.

Sculptors work on a showpiece for the the seventh annual Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular in 2012. This year’s event will be Saturday, Jan. 24.
