TOWN OF PORT EDWARDS – Wood County officials have ruled the death of a man found by teenagers Wednesday evening as accidental.

The 33-year-old man died from positional asphyxiation, Wood County Sheriff's Department Lt. Quentin Ellis said. The man had somehow gotten into a position where he couldn't breathe and couldn't move.

At 6:29 p.m. Wednesday, a 17-year-old boy reported he and his friends found a body on a trail along the river near the intersection of Highway AA and Grunewald Lane, town of Port Edwards, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Department incident log.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they determined the 33-year-old man had been dead for one or two days, Ellis said.

The Wood County Coroner's Office made the determination that the death was accidental, Ellis said.
