RUDOLPH — Local children will have the chance to talk to Santa Claus through amateur radios at the Rudolph Country Christmas event on Saturday, thanks to a collaboration between the Mid-State Repeater Association and the Central Wisconsin Radio Amateurs Ltd.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available from noon until 2 p.m. on the 146.790 amateur radio repeater. Scanner listeners also can tune in to listen to Santa and Mrs. Claus talk to boys and girls.

For those attending Rudolph Country Christmas, amateur radio operators — known as "Hams" — will wear bright green or chartreuse vests and be available with radios to help children reach Santa and Mrs. Claus during the time they will be on the air.

Amateur radio will also be demonstrated at the Rudolph Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., during the Rudolph Country Christmas event. The amateur radio operators will be located at site No. 18.
